ELSA: STEM in Schools values your privacy.

This website does not collect, store or share any personal information from visitors, with the following exceptions:

  • If you submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) form that includes your personal information, this will be collected and stored securely. Personal information collected in our EOI form will include your name, email address, phone number, and place of employment. This information will not be shared with any third parties and will only be used for the purposes of selecting and contacting schools for our ELSA: STEM in Schools Pilot and randomised control trial (RCT) in 2024.
  • If you complete our online form requesting to join our mailing list, your name and email address will be shared with Mailchimp in order to coordinate email communication with you.

Your personal information is protected by law, including the Information Privacy Act 2014 (ACT) (Information Privacy Act) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). ELSA: STEM in Schools is bound by the Information Privacy Principles in the Information Privacy Act.

To correct any personal information collected as part of our EOI process or make a complaint about a breach of an Information Privacy Principle, please contact the ELSA team via [email protected] or call 1800 512 225.

Any issues you raise will be treated in-confidence in accordance with relevant laws and investigated fully, and you will be informed of the outcome.

TEACHER TOOL

ELSA: STEM in Schools values your privacy.

Below we have outlined how any personal information collected by our Teacher tool will be stored and used:

  • The University of Canberra will collect and use the personal information of teachers for the specific use of running the ELSA F–2 Program only. The personal information collected will include your name, signature, email address, phone number and place of employment.
  • All data collected as part of the program will be:
    • stored on secure servers in Australia (no personal information is being sent overseas); and
    • de-identified (removing names) before being used in reports (or future academic papers).
  • De-identified data may be used and disclosed by the University of Canberra to the Department of Education (DE), an external evaluator of the ELSA F–2 Program, and the ELSA F–2 digital developers – including Mode Games and Anomaly Software – for the purpose of delivering and evaluating the ELSA F–2 Program only. The University of Canberra also have ethics approval from your local jurisdiction to examine this de-identified data for research purposes.
  • No names or other identifying material collected as part of the ELSA F–2 Program will be used in publications or for publicity without further consent from you.
  • To correct any personal information or make a complaint about a breach of an Information Privacy Principle, please contact the ELSA team via [email protected] or call 1800 512 225.

CHILDREN’S APPS

ELSA: STEM in Schools values your privacy.

Below we have outlined how our Children’s apps will handle the personal information of children:

  • Your child’s school will collect and use the personal information of children and parents/legal guardians for the specific use of running the ELSA F–2 Program only. The personal information collected will include your child’s name, as well as your name and signature.
  • All children’s usage data collected as part of the program will be:
    • stored on secure servers in Australia, with a unique but meaningless number assigned to each child (no personal information is being sent overseas); and
    • de-identified (removing names of children) before being used in reports (or any future academic papers).
  • De-identified data may be used and disclosed by the University of Canberra to the Department of Education (DE), an external evaluator of the ELSA F–2 Program, and the ELSA F–2 digital developers – including Mode Games and Anomaly Software – for the purpose of delivering and evaluating the ELSA F–2 Program only.
